11 Tips That Will Help You Build A Home Gym

So you’ve returned from an awesome vacation, looked at your pictures, observed your body and found out that you are not in a good shape. You say to yourself ‘enough is enough’ and have finally decided to make changes in your life.

But you don’t have the time to go to the gym and finding the time to go to one is also not possible because of your busy schedule. But that doesn’t mean that you should give up on working out altogether, as there are ways around it, such as having a gym in your home instead.

Below we’ve listed some tips you can follow to build a gym within the comforts of your home itself.

1. Calculate The Budget

Money saved is money earned, right? Calculate your budget and plan things according to your needs. Many people build  their home gyms and later don’t even bother to use it. So think and plan wisely as to why and how much you can invest for yourself.

2. Get That Space

Look for an empty space which is not being used for anything  right now or rather make one for yourself by moving and rearranging stuff, if you don’t have any.

3. Reflect On The Way You Look

Get a good wall mirror and set it up to take a good look at yourself when you workout. This will help you concentrate more on specific body parts as you go full steam ahead with your workout.

4. Light It Up

Nothing is better than seeing those gains pop up, right? Set up some dramatic overhead lighting which will give you a feeling of being in a different place. This will not only make you feel good as you  exercise, but also make you feel confident as you take your workout to the next level.

5. Air It Out

See to it that the place where you workout has good ventilation, if not get a room freshener or a table fan to get rid of that sweaty scent. We also suggest that you have good towel radiators  to keep the temperature of your gym at levels that will help you push your limits.

6. Put Some Graffiti

You might not be an awesome artist to draw on a wall, but to keep yourself motivated while working out, stick up a poster of the legendary Arnold, Ronnie or any of your favourite bodybuilders. If there is a quote that gets you hyped up, get it printed in bold and stick it up.

7. Set a Tick Tock

Your mobile or that slim fitness band on your hand may help you keep a track of your time, but we recommend you to get a wall clock and set it up so that you can take a good look at it while you sweat it out. This will help you keep track of the time you spent on each set of exercise.

8. Gear Up!

Depending on your body goals, whether you want to gain  or lose weight, your equipments may vary. If you are a workout newbie we’d suggest that you get a yoga mat, a set of resistance bands, an adjustable bench and a set of dumbbells that you think you can lift. It is not necessary that you buy the latest and best equipments.  If money is an issue, check out sites that are selling used equipments in your area and save some money for equipments you may buy in future.

9. Safety Precautions

Store the weights in a proper place. Make sure you don’t keep them at a height in case they might roll over and fall on someone causing serious injury. Let everyone from your family know about the place you store your weights. Sticking some red tags that will help others to be cautious around that area. We’d suggest you to keep your weights in a tote box with the lid on.

10. Drop The Beat

Maybe it’s those gangsta raps, metal songs or even Adele’s song (we won’t judge you on that one) that sets you on fire. So, make a new playlist for your workout and play it loud on your Bluetooth speaker or  headphones, whichever suits you best.

11. Invite A Workout Friend

Instead of calling Uncle Bob living next door, invite a friend who takes workout seriously and ask for their advice on how the setup can be improved.

In the end, we would also like to tell you that you need to make a good workout plan according to your goals, calculate your macros, stick to the diet and pump that iron hard. We hope  this article has given you enough tips for building a gym and accomplishing your fitness goals right in the comfort of your home.
